Mandelbrot

Mandelbrot is a German electronica and ambient group from Germany, active since 1994. It is led by Philipp Münch, who is also involved in Synapscape, Ars Moriendi, Monokrom and The Rorschach Garden. Since 2005, Barbara Teichner is a full member of the project.

Style and approach

The project focuses on abstract soundscapes that combine electronic and acoustic elements. In performance, it also explores the experimental side of guitar manipulation, using effects pedals and samplers extensively. The result ranges from digital crackle and white noise to ebowed drones and subsonic low end, with each show taking a different form. Its sound is associated with dark ambient, ambient, noise and rhythmic noise.
