Man Made Origin

Man Made Origin is a five-piece progressive metal group from Dundee, Scotland. Their music combines death metal, black metal, post-metal and progressive rock. The band forms at Dundee University band society in late 2008, and the original quartet begins work on its debut record, State of Nature.

Early releases

State of Nature is recorded in summer 2009 and released in November that year. It sells out and receives a strong response from listeners and critics. The band then starts work on a second record, False Consciousness, which develops around a science-fiction setting and is planned with a 200-page book of short stories.

False Consciousness and later activity

After two years of writing, with new material performed live during that period, the band returns to the studio in summer 2011 with singer and songwriter Sarah Coloso guesting on several tracks. False Consciousness is released in late November 2011 and presents a more experimental and detailed production style. It also includes the ebook Tales of the Verse, a collection of short stories embedded on the CD. In 2012, Sarah Coloso becomes a permanent member, contributing vocals and keyboards.

Current work

The band also releases a video for “The Betrayal” and works on material for a second full-length album.
