Mama Roux
Mama Roux is a Dutch group formed in 2005. It brings together three female singers and two male musicians: Mieke Rous on lyrics and vocals, Caroline Buitenhuis on vocals, Tynke Luske on vocals, Juul Beerda on accordion and piano, and Eric van Loo on bass.
The group draws on Dutch cultural heritage and traditional material, while giving it a modern treatment. Its sound combines double bass, piano and accordion, and its performances are described as theatrical and joyful, aimed at reaching audiences across nationalities. The act is marked by irreverence, passion and flair.
In 2007, Mama Roux releases the album Schoone Schijn, also titled Keeping up Appearances, which receives positive attention from critics and audiences.
