Magoo
Magoo is a UK indie rock band from Norwich, active since 1992. The group forms in Norfolk, England, and its line-up includes Stacy Gow, Dave Lake, Andrew Rayner, Owen Turner and David Bamford. Their music sits across indie, electronic, rock, pop and indietronica.
Background and early releases
The band spends its early years playing local venues in the Norwich area. It releases several singles on Norwich label Noisebox Records before signing to the Scottish label Chemikal Underground.
Recordings and live appearances
While on Chemikal Underground, Magoo plays the CMJ Music Marathon in New York and performs at Glastonbury, alongside smaller events around the UK. In June 1996, the band records four songs for John Peel’s BBC Radio 1 show, and later records six more sessions. It becomes one of the last bands to record a Peel session before his death.
Later work
After parting company with Chemikal Underground, the band sets up Sickroom Studios in Norfolk to record later material. Its most recent album is The Continuing Adventures Of Magoo.

Magoo names Guided by Voices, Stereolab, Pavement, The Flaming Lips and John Peel among its influences.
