MAGNETUDE

MAGNETUDE is a London-based drum and bass group made up of James Peacock and Rusty K. The project forms around forward-facing drum and bass production and is also associated with electronic and neurofunk.

Formation and early releases

The duo emerges in late 2016 with a debut release called Hyperdrive on Lifted Music. From the outset, their work is described as combining drum and bass with melodic detail and elements drawn from live orchestral and opera music.

Sound and collaborations

MAGNETUDE works across drum and bass and also moves into dubstep, breaks, half-time, bassline and grime. The project collaborates with Russian vocalist Julia Marks and is presented as a trans-European collaboration. It also performs high-energy four-turntable sets.

Releases and labels

The group releases music on Lifted Music, and is also linked with Evolution Chamber and RAM Records. Its output is described as dense and aggressive in style, with a focus on club-oriented impact and detailed production.

Members

James Peacock and Rusty K are the named members of the group, with Rustam Mansurov also identified as part of the duo in the project’s early description.
