Lynne Hanson is a Canadian folk singer-songwriter based in Ottawa. She performs as a solo artist, has recorded under the name Lynne Hanson & The Good Intentions, and works with Lynn Miles in the duo The Lynnes.
Career
Hanson begins her solo songwriting career after performing with Shane Simpson from 2000 to 2005. Her first album, Things I Miss, appears in 2006, followed by Eleven Months in 2008 and Once the Sun Goes Down in 2010. Her fourth studio album, River of Sand, is produced by Juno Award-winning songwriter Lynn Miles and released by the Dutch label CRS on Continental Song City. She also tours as a solo artist in Canada and internationally.
Collaborations and touring
Hanson tours in Europe and the southern United States with Lynn Miles, and in the United Kingdom and Ireland as support for Canadian and Nashville songwriters, including Steve Forbert and Gretchen Peters. She also appears at the CBC Canada Day Songwriters’ Circle in 2014.
Awards and recognition
In 2009, Hanson is nominated for a Canadian Folk Music Award in the New/Emerging Artist category. The following year, she wins the Colleen Peterson Songwriting Award for her song “Rest of My Days”. She is also a New Folk finalist at the Kerrville Folk Festival in Texas in 2009.
The Lynnes
With Lynn Miles, Hanson records as The Lynnes. The duo releases Heartbreak Song for the Radio in 2018 and receives five Canadian Folk Music Award nominations, winning English Songwriter of the Year and Ensemble of the Year.
