LUXJURY

LUXJURY is a London-based three-piece active since 2021. The group plays indie-rock and alternative music, with a sound shaped around queer underground scenes in London.

Origins and formation

The project grows out of Lux’s background in Vienna, where she grows up in a deeply suburban area with little exposure to rock music. She turns to music as a way to escape the monotony of that environment and later plays drums in a Weezer cover band at school. After rebelling against mainstream pop from mainland Europe, she also comes to value some of that songwriting and guitar tone.

Lux meets drummer Howey at university, where they help each other fail in science labs. The pair move to London in 2018 and become involved in the Hackney Wick warehouse scene. There they meet a Florence and the Machine tour manager, who later introduces them to the queer rock scene around producer and studio owner Margo Broom at Hermitage Works, a space associated with Goat Girl, Big Joanie and Fat White Family.

While spending time at the studio, they meet Nathan Ridley, who becomes their producer and later joins as bassist. The trio then form LuxJury.

Releases

The band’s debut single, “Hot Mess”, appears in November 2025. In 2024, LuxJury send a self-released EP to Bella Union Records. The EP is later developed, with Bella Union’s support, into an album titled Giving Up, which keeps the EP’s original title.

Members

The group consists of Lux, Howey and Nathan Ridley.
