Lucy Farrell is an English folk singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Kent in the United Kingdom. She originates from Maidstone and graduates from Newcastle University’s Folk and Traditional Music course.
Career
Farrell appears in a number of folk projects, including Eliza Carthy & The Wayward Band, The Furrow Collective, Gluepot, the Emily Portman Trio, and Carthy, Oates, Farrell & Young. She also performs and records as part of the duo Jonny Kearney & Lucy Farrell with fellow Newcastle University graduate Jonny Kearney.
Recordings and collaborations
Alongside solo material, Farrell contributes viola and vocals to Emily Portman’s album The Glamoury. Her work spans singing, songwriting and instrumental performance across collaborative folk settings.
Recognition
As one quarter of The Furrow Collective, Farrell wins the BBC Folk Awards’ Best Band category in 2018.
