Luar na Lubre

Luar na Lubre is a Celtic folk group from A Coruña, Spain, active since 1986. The band performs mainly in Galician, the native language of Galicia, and many of its songs are instrumental. It becomes known for combining folk and Celtic traditions with a strong Galician identity.

Members

The group includes Rosa Cedrón and Bieito Romero. The line-up listed for the band also includes Irma Macías on vocals, Bieito Romero on bagpipes, accordion and zanfoña, Brais Maceiras on accordion, Nuria Naya on fiddle, Patxi Bermudez on bodhrán, drum and djimbek, Pedro Valero on acoustic guitar, Xavier Ferreiro on Latin percussion and effects, and Xan Cerqueiro on flutes.

Notable songs and collaborations

One of the band’s best-known songs is “O son do ar” (“The sound of the wind”). Mike Oldfield covers it on Voyager, and Rosa Cedrón, who was formerly a singer in Luar na Lubre, appears as a guest singer on Oldfield’s Tubular Bells III.
