Lower Class Brats are a street punk group from Austin, United States, formed in January 1995. The band remains active and is based in Southern California from 2017.

Style and influences

Their sound combines punk, Oi!, 70s glam and straightforward rock and roll. Their imagery also draws on A Clockwork Orange, which shapes the theatrical side of the band’s presentation.

History

Lower Class Brats spend their first six months writing and rehearsing before beginning to perform. They then release a demo cassette. A year later, they issue their first full-length album, Rather Be Hated Than Ignored, on GMM Records. The record becomes closely associated with their fanbase, known as the “LCB Army”.

Across their career, they release five full-length LPs, thirteen 7-inch EPs and three compilation LPs. They tour and perform across the United States, Canada, the UK, Europe and Asia.

Lower Class Brats place emphasis on live performance, treating shows as more than ordinary gigs and aiming for performances that invite audiences to sing, shout and participate.
