Louise Golbey

Louise Golbey is a London-based singer, songwriter and musician whose work is described as contemporary soul with a jazz influence. She performs with a full band and is a regular act at the Jazz Cafe and Ronnie Scott’s in London.

Career

Golbey performs in the UK soul and jazz circuit and supports other artists including Omar at the Bernie Grants Arts Centre, Vula of Basement Jaxx, and Kele Le Roc. She also plays at the opening night of the London Jazz Festival with her full band.

Releases and collaborations

Her EP How It Is includes the title track produced by 8trak and the track Same Old, Same Old, which is produced by Drew Horley, a Mercury Prize-nominated producer. Golbey also films a video for Same Old Same Old, featuring Ras Kwame and other guest appearances. The track receives airplay on Ras Kwame’s Homegrown show on Radio 1Xtra and leads to an invitation to perform at Glastonbury on the BBC Introducing Stage alongside Speech Debelle.

Recognition

Golbey is a finalist in the Indy Music Awards 2008 and receives a nomination for Best Soul/Jazz/Funk act.
