Louis La Roche

Louis La Roche is the producer and DJ Brett Ewels, from Norwich, UK, with origins in Great Yarmouth and Norwich. He works in electronic and house music, and is associated in particular with French house, funky house and electronica.

Early releases and breakthrough

In 2008, a track called “Love” circulates widely online and is widely misattributed to Thomas Bangalter, but it is in fact by Louis La Roche. Soon afterwards he releases the five-track The Peach EP in April 2008. Later that year he begins work on an album called I Delete Myself, but he later scraps it because he is not satisfied with it.

EPs and later work

Louis La Roche then releases Me & Her, a four-track EP that includes “Be Brave”. It appears on Ever After Records, a label that names him as its first signed artist. His Super Soaker EP is made available first through Beatport in December 2009 and then more widely in January 2010. In 2011 he says he is working on an album titled Hello You, though it does not materialise. After Super Soaker, he releases Untrue in 2012, followed the next year by Say I’m Your No. 1, the Composure EP and “Funk Trunk Skunk / Kaboom”. In 2014 he releases the Dusty Cassette EP through his Bandcamp.

Label and project history

Across this period, Louis La Roche moves through a series of self-contained releases and unfinished album projects, and he announces in 2014 that he is already working on another new project whose length is not yet decided.
