Lory D

Lory D is the performing name of Lorenzo D'Angelo, an Italian techno and electronic music artist associated with dark techno, acid, electronica and IDM. He has been active since 1989 and is also an ex-Italian D.M.C. champion.

Career and label work

He owns the Roman techno label Sounds Never Seen, which is described as a key outlet in the city’s techno scene. He is one of the first artists to bring the Acid House and Hardcore sounds from London to Rome, and he is closely associated with the development of that underground culture in the city.

Style and influences

His music draws on Rome’s night-time atmosphere, as well as the darkness and beauty of the city and the feeling of the underground raves he plays. His influences include Aphex Twin, Suicide, Drexciya, Spk, Ligeti, Frankie Bones, The Mover and Underground Resistance.
