Lord of the Isles

Lord of the Isles is the alias of Edinburgh producer Neil McDonald. Based in the United Kingdom, he works across ambient, deep house, electronic, electronica, experimental and techno, with music that combines earthy and airy textures with analogue elements of acid and house.

McDonald says the name comes from an early interest in Scottish history, shaped by childhood holidays spent in the Highlands. His music is also informed by an interest in beauty and wilderness, and it often draws on the landscape of his native Scotland.

As a DJ, he tours under the LOTI name across Europe’s club circuit and plays venues including Berghain/Panorama Bar, Concrete and Trouw. As a producer, he releases on a range of labels including Permanent Vacation, Mule Musiq, Ene, Phonica, Firecracker, Shevchenko and ESP Institute.
