Long Distance Calling
Long Distance Calling are an instrumental rock and post-rock group from Münster, Germany. They form in 2006 and remain active, with a line-up that includes Reimut van Bonn, Martin Fischer, Petter Carlsen, Florian Füntmann, Jan Hoffmann, David Jordan and Janosch Rathmer.
Style and formation
The band begins with a first live appearance and a four-track demo EP, Dmnstrtn, in late September 2006. Their music centres on heavy guitar riffs and a rhythm section-led instrumental sound, with psychedelic and quieter passages alongside harder, more forceful sections. Martin Fischer contributes vocals and sounds, while the core line-up is built around guitars, bass and drums.
Releases
Their debut album, Satellite Bay, appears in 2007 and receives a positive response. The follow-up, Avoid The Light, is released through Superball Music and is produced by Kurt Ebelhäuser. Their album Eraser follows in 2022. The group is associated with Superball Music and Viva Hate Records.
Reception
Dmnstrtn is named demo of the month by both VISIONS and ROCK HARD magazines, marking an early boost for the band’s profile.
