London Grammar

London Grammar are an indie pop band from Nottingham, England, active since 2009. The group consists of Hannah Reid, Dot Major, Dominic Major and Daniel Rothman. Their sound is associated with alternative rock, art pop, dream pop, electronic music, electronica and indie pop.

Formation and early work

Hannah Reid and Dan Rothman meet in the dorms of Nottingham University and begin writing music together in 2009. They later add Dot Major to complete the line-up. The band first draws wider attention with the 2012 track “Hey Now”, which they upload online and which gains a strong cult following.

Releases and label history

Their debut EP, Metal & Dust, is self-released in 2013 and reaches the Top 5 of the iTunes chart. The band then signs to Ministry of Sound, where “Wasting My Young Years” is their first release on the label. Their debut album, If You Wait, appears in 2013 and includes the single “Strong”. Their second album, Truth Is a Beautiful Thing, is released in 2017. In 2020 they issue “Baby It’s You” as their first single since 2017.

Live appearances

In 2013 the band plays a sold-out show at Islington Assembly Hall and appears at the Great Escape Festival in Brighton.
