LOAH

LOAH is the solo project of Sallay Matu Garnett, an Irish and Sierra Leonean singer-songwriter from Dublin. Her work sits across folk, hip hop, R&B and soul, and she describes her own blend of folk and soul as “ArtSoul”.

Early work and collaborations

While studying at Trinity College Dublin, Garnett works with musicians who later become members of Little Green Cars, Slow Skies and I Have A Tribe. She also sings with Kíla, Niwel Tsumbu and Trinity Orchestra’s early pop projects.

Recording and performances

In 2014, she releases two songs, “The Bailey” and “Cortege”. In the same period she performs at Electric Picnic, the Dublin Fringe Festival and Body&Soul’s Shapeshifters Ball.

Hozier collaboration and later appearances

Garnett contributes to Hozier’s debut album, co-writing the song “Someone New”. In 2016, she appears in Glen Hansard’s Imagining Home: This Is Ireland concert at the National Concert Hall in Dublin and in the Irish Arts Centre’s Ireland Rising concert at Symphony Space in New York, while also recording her debut EP.
