Lizz Wright

Lizz Wright is an American jazz and gospel singer and composer from Hahira, United States. Born in 1980, she works across blues, gospel, jazz, soul and vocal jazz.

Career

In 2000, Wright joins the Atlanta-based vocal quartet In the Spirit, which soon earns critical acclaim. Two years later she signs a recording contract with Verve Records.

Recordings

Her first album, Salt, is released in 2003 and reaches number two on the Billboard Top Contemporary Jazz chart in 2004. She follows it with Dreaming Wide Awake, which is released in June 2005 and reaches number one on the Top Contemporary Jazz chart in 2005 and 2006.
