Living Body

Living Body is a Leeds-based group active since 2016. It is led by Chicagoan Jeff T. Smith, who previously records as Juffage, and includes longtime collaborators Tom Evans and Katie Harkin. The group also features Fig by Four and Mayshe-Mayshe.

Line-up and background

Smith works with Evans, who is associated with Vessels, and Harkin, who also appears in Harkin, Sky Larkin, Wild Beasts, Sleater-Kinney and Flock of Dimes. Mayshe-Mayshe is part of the line-up, alongside Fig by Four.

Earlier activity

The project develops out of the response to the “Sonic Cauldron” concert at Left Bank Leeds in 2013, which shapes the band’s formation and direction. Living Body focuses on pop song structures, aiming to reshape them into a more immediate and unusual form.
