Lisa

Lisa is the stage name used by several recording artists from different countries. The Japanese entries in the name include LiSA, the singer Risa Oribe, and LISA, the Japanese-Colombian singer and producer Elizabeth Sakura Narita. The name is also used by the Thai rapper, singer and dancer Lalisa Manoban, the Dutch singers Lisa Hordijk and Lisa Boray, a French singer associated with the song “Drole de creepie”, an 1980s disco artist Lisa Fredenthal-Lee, and the Italian pop singer Annalisa Panetta.

Japanese artist LiSA

Risa Oribe, born in 1987, performs as LiSA, an acronym for “Love is Same All”. She is a Japanese singer signed to Aniplex under Sony Music Artists. She forms a band under that name in 2008. She is known as the vocalist of the second generation of Girls Dead Monster, credited as Girls Dead Monster Starring Lisa, which gains popularity through the anime Angel Beats!.

As a solo artist, she debuts in 2011 with the album Letters to U. Her single “oath sign” is used as the opening theme for the 2011 anime Fate/Zero, and “Crossing Field” is used as the opening theme for the 2012 anime Sword Art Online.

Japanese-Colombian singer LISA

Elizabeth Sakura Narita, born in Tokyo in 1974, is a Japanese-Colombian singer and producer who performs as LISA. In 1999 she forms the urban contemporary group m-flo with VERBAL and Taku Takahashi. The group signs to Rhythm Zone, an imprint of avex, and releases its debut EP, the tripod e.p., in 1999.

m-flo releases five albums, one EP and eleven singles before LISA leaves in 2002, citing artistic differences. She later resumes a solo career on Rhythm Zone. She returns for the collaboration “TRIPOD BABY” on m-flo’s 2005 album BEAT SPACE NINE; the track is also remixed the same year for use as a promotional song for the video game Shadow the Hedgehog.

Before joining m-flo, she performs the opening theme “Sea of the Stars” for the anime Legend of Galactic Heroes, and the track appears on the soundtrack album 銀河英雄伝説 CD-BOX 銀河帝国SIDE. She often writes, produces and records with other Japanese acts including Kumi Koda, Heartsdales and Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra. She lists Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin, Donna Summer and Aaliyah among her favourite artists, and cites Cyndi Lauper, Madonna and Whitney Houston as influences.

Her hobbies are music and drawing, and she says that she is a good volleyball player. Her fifth album, ELIZABETH, is released in 2006.

Thai artist Lisa

Lalisa Manoban, born Pranpriya Manoban in 1997, is a Thai rapper, singer and dancer based in South Korea. She is the youngest member of BLACKPINK, the South Korean girl group formed under YG Entertainment. She makes her solo debut in 2021 with the single album LALISA.

Other artists using the name Lisa

Lisa Hordijk wins X-Factor Holland in 2009 and later performs as Lisa Lois. Her first single is a cover of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah”.

The French singer Lisa is associated with “Drole de creepie”, the leading single from the cartoon Growing Up Creepie. The song is produced and written by Laurent Boutonnat, with lyrics by Mylène Farmer, and the video shows her dancing in a ballerina costume with a spider-inspired design.

Lisa Fredenthal-Lee is an 1980s disco artist with hits including “Rocket To Your Heart” and “Jump Shout”. Lisa Boray, real name Lisa Schulte Nordholt, is a Dutch singer with disco hits such as “Break It Out” and “Tonight”, and she later works extensively as a backing vocalist and now as a vocal coach.

Annalisa Panetta performs as Lisa in Italy and is best known for the ballad “Sempre”, which places third at the Sanremo Festival in 1998.
