Lisa LeBlanc

Lisa LeBlanc is a Canadian singer-songwriter and banjoist from Rosaireville, New Brunswick. Born in 1990, she is identified with folk and singer-songwriter music, and is also known for her “trash-folk” style. Her work is released on Bonsound.

Early life and training

LeBlanc grows up in Rosaireville, a small Acadian village in New Brunswick, and comes from a family of music lovers. She writes her first songs several years before her debut album and studies at l’École nationale de la chanson in Granby. She also lives in Montreal for a period while working on her early material.

Debut album

Her self-titled first album appears in March 2012 on Bonsound Records. Much of the album is written in Rosaireville, with additional work done in Granby and Montreal. It is recorded by Louis-Jean Cormier of Karkwa at Studio Piccolo.

Recognition and performances

LeBlanc wins the Festival international de la chanson de Granby in 2010, which gives her wider visibility in French-language media in Canada. She also performs at Coup de coeur francophone in 2011, as well as at FrancoFolies de Montréal and the Festival d’Été de Québec.
