Liquid Soul
Liquid Soul is the stage name of Nicola Capobianco, a Swiss electronic artist from Zürich, born in 1979. He works in psytrance and related electronic styles, including progressive trance, psychedelic trance and trance.
Background and early work
Capobianco begins playing progressive trance from the end of 1993, after getting interested in electronic music at an early age. He is based in Switzerland and starts Liquid Soul as a new project in 2001, after years of DJ work and studio production.
Releases and label work
In 2006 he founds his own label, Mikrokosmos Records. As Liquid Soul, he releases a series of albums and tracks on Iboga Records, including Synthetic Vibes, Love in Stereo and Cocktails, which are described as among the label’s best-selling releases. His debut album as Liquid Soul appears on Iboga Records in 2006 and becomes the best-selling album in the progressive scene that year.
He is also credited with more than 100 releases on leading labels.
Other projects and collaborations
Alongside his solo work, Capobianco also records as Sleek. He also forms the duo Earsugar with Martin Knecht.
Performances and recognition
He performs at large raves and festivals and appears alongside artists such as Tiësto and Armin van Buuren. His work takes him to countries including Brazil, Japan, Mexico, the UK, Germany, Greece, Israel, Portugal, Belgium, Austria, Hungary and Italy.
He wins the Beatport award for best psytrance track in 2009. In 2010 he receives Beatport artist and track awards and also wins DJ Awards honours in Ibiza in psytrance categories.
