Linval Thompson

Linval Thompson is a Jamaican reggae and dub artist and producer. Born in 1954, he begins as a songwriter and singer before becoming better known for production work. He works with Lee “Scratch” Perry at the Black Ark studios and contributes to The Upsetters’ track “Kung Fu Man”.

Production work

Thompson’s strongest reputation comes from his work as a producer in the mid-1970s to mid-1980s. He works with dub and reggae figures including Scientist, King Tubby and Johnny Clarke. He also produces albums for Dennis Brown, the Wailing Souls, Eek-A-Mouse, Freddie McGregor and the Viceroys.
