Lil Baby

Lil Baby is an Atlanta rapper whose music is rooted in hip hop, southern hip hop and trap. He grows up in Atlanta and is associated with the city’s rap scene and the Quality Control circle of artists, as well as the 4 Pockets Full clique.

Early life and background

He is born in 1994. Before his rap career takes off, he spends time around friends such as Young Thug, Coach K and Pee, while also being involved in petty crime and street hustling. In 2015, he goes to prison for a probation violation and serves two years.

Mixtapes and breakthrough

After his release in 2017, Lil Baby begins his recording career with the mixtape Perfect Timing. The release features Lil Yachty, Young Thug and Gunna, and production from 808 Mafia, Brickz and others. It helps establish him quickly, with attention drawn to his laid-back vocal delivery. Later in 2017, he releases the singles “My Dawg” and “Pink Slip,” the latter a collaboration with Young Thug. That same year he also releases Harder Than Hard, 2 the Hard Way with Marlo, and Too Hard.

Debut album

His debut studio album, Harder Than Ever, appears in 2018. The album includes guest appearances from Drake, Offset, Lil Uzi Vert and others, and enters the Billboard 200 at number three.
