Lightcraft

Lightcraft is an Indonesian dream pop, post-rock, indie and shoegaze band formed by six university students from different backgrounds who come together in Malaysia. The group begins under the names Parallel Lines and then Tenterhooks before settling on Lightcraft. It starts out playing cover versions, then moves into writing original material.

Early releases

The band’s first EP, The Modern Seasons, grows out of long recording sessions carried out with limited time and money. Two years later, Lightcraft releases its debut album, Losing Northern Lights, which shows growth in melody, songwriting, lyrics and overall maturity.

Line-up and activity

The original line-up consists of Imam Mbudz, Fari, Patrick, Enrico, Indra and Latief. After the members graduate from university, Imam remains in Malaysia while Fari, Enrico, Indra and Latief are based in Indonesia, and Patrick lives in Portsmouth, England. Despite this distance, the band continues to perform, with Imam gigging with a later line-up including Efry, Izhar and Chino. Efry joins before graduation to replace Indra.

Performances

Lightcraft performs in Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore and Indonesia, and remains active as a live band with an eye toward reaching a wider audience.
