Liana Flores is a singer-songwriter from Norwich, England, with British and Brazilian background. Born in 1999, she works in bossa nova and folk, and is also associated with indie pop, folk pop and chamber folk.

Early online activity

Flores begins sharing music on YouTube in 2013 under the name “Ukulili”. At that stage, she mainly uploads ukulele covers and tutorials, including material connected to musical theatre. She later expands the channel to include original songs, mashups and covers, and renames it Liana Flores in 2018.

Recording career

Her first EP, The Water’s Fine, appears in 2018 and marks her debut as a recording artist. A second EP, Recently, follows in 2019. The track “Rises the Moon”, from Recently, becomes her best-known song through extensive playlist placement and streaming attention.

Collaborations and later releases

Flores collaborates with Matt Maltese on “My Heart’s Not In It”. She also releases “I wish for the rain” in 2024.

Audience and label work

Her YouTube channel attracts a large following, with more than 290,000 subscribers. Her streaming profile also grows substantially, with monthly listeners on Spotify passing 5.1 million in April 2024. Around the same period, she signs with Verve Records, the American label founded in 1956 by Norman Granz and known for its large jazz catalogue.
