Liam Payne is a singer-songwriter from Wolverhampton, England. Born in 1993, he first appears on television in 2008 when he auditions for the British series The X Factor. After being eliminated, he auditions again in 2010 and is placed with four other boys to form One Direction.

One Direction becomes one of the best-selling boy bands of all time. Payne is a member of the group, and after it goes on hiatus in 2015, he signs a recording contract with Republic Records in North America.

In May 2017, he releases “Strip That Down” as the lead single from his debut solo studio album. The single reaches number three on the UK Singles Chart and number ten on the US Billboard Hot 100, and is certified platinum in both countries. He dies in 2024.
