Levon Minassian is a French-born duduk player, specialising in the Armenian woodwind instrument. Born in 1958, he builds a career around an instrument closely associated with Armenian folk and ethnic music.

His professional music work begins when Peter Gabriel finds him to play on the soundtrack of The Last Temptation of Christ, which Gabriel composes. That collaboration helps bring the sound of the duduk to a wider international audience, where it becomes widely recognised. Minassian also records on other film soundtracks and appears on recordings issued on Gabriel’s Real World Records label.
