Lesoir

Lesoir is a progressive rock group from Maastricht, Netherlands, active since 2009. The band begins as a project formed by five musicians who already have experience in other groups and decide to make music together after touring in England in June 2009. Their early work develops through sessions in Maastricht, Amsterdam and Leuven, where songs move from short musical ideas into a full-length album.

The group records that album with producer Rudy Coclet at Jet Studio in Brussels, Belgium. Their sound is described through strong contrasts: heavy passages set against dynamics and atmosphere, with a raw, dark quality and melody remaining central. Their live material also moves between fragility and whispering sections and more chaotic, heavier parts, while visuals and sound are intended to work together in performance.

Lesoir’s line-up includes Maartje Meessen on vocals, Ingo Dassen and Nick Franssen on guitars, Alex van Damme on bass, and Ruben van Asselt on drums. The group is associated with comparisons to Skunk Anansie, A Perfect Circle and Soundgarden.

After forming in 2009, Lesoir presents itself with a debut album and a distinctive live show from 2010 onwards. The band remains active as a Maastricht-based progressive rock act.
