Lenny Ibizarre
Lenny Ibizarre is the recording name of Lennart Krarup, an electronic music artist born in Copenhagen, Denmark in 1972. He develops an early interest in oriental and ethnic music, electronic music and classical music from the age of seven. The Acid House movement in 1988 becomes a major influence on his work.
Ibiza and recording career
He first travels to Ibiza in 1990 and later moves there with two suitcases full of synths and sequencers. He enters the Ibiza music scene in 1997, the same period in which he begins work on his first album, The Ambient Collection, which is signed by Warner Music UK. He produces 12 albums from 1997 onwards and is described as a multi-platinum selling artist.
Compilations and releases
His Chilled Ibiza compilations sell more than 1.5 million copies in the UK. The Ambient Collection reaches its seventh edition in 2007.
Remixing and DJ work
He also works as a remix artist, with remixes for The Doors, Bob Dylan, Bob Marley, Jefferson Airplane, Nat King Cole and Henry Mancini. As a DJ, he holds residencies at Cafe Del Mar, Pacha, Khumaras, Ku (Privilege) and Amnesia, and works as an international DJ.
Record label and awards
In 1997, he founds the label Ibizarre Records and co-founds the DJ Awards. The DJ Awards reaches its tenth anniversary in 2007.
