Lemâitre are an Oslo-based Norwegian indie-electronica duo formed in 2010 by Ketil Jansen and Ulrik Denizou Lund. They remain active and are known for combining electronic and indie influences within a project that sits between electronica and indietronica.

Background

Jansen and Lund know each other from childhood and begin making music together after finishing school. Both have already spent much of their lives involved in music, but from different directions: Lund comes from rock and indie bands, while Jansen has a background in electronic music.

Style and influences

The duo draw on a range of acts including Daft Punk, Röyksopp, Justice, The Strokes, Ratatat, Phoenix, Noisia and Deadmau5. Their sound is generally associated with electronic, electronica, glitch and house-related styles, alongside the indietronica profile noted for the group.

Releases and recognition

Their second EP, Relativity 2, reaches notable chart positions on iTunes electronic albums charts, including number one in the United States and Canada. It also places highly in Switzerland, Australia and France, and ranks number four worldwide in iTunes’ Pop category, behind Adele.
