Left Lane Cruiser

Left Lane Cruiser is a blues rock group from Fort Wayne, United States, active since 2004. The band is made up of Fredrick “Joe” Evans IV, who performs slide guitar and vocals, and Brenn Beck, who plays bass drum, harmonica and a range of percussive objects.

Sound and approach

The group develops a raw, blues-driven form of rock and roll built around slide guitar, vocals, percussion and a stripped-down two-piece setup. Their music draws on the North Mississippi Hill Country sound, and their approach treats ordinary objects such as trash cans, paint trays, hubcaps and ladders as instruments. Their playing is shaped by performances at house parties, street corners and rehearsals in a garage without heat.

Career

Before issuing full-length releases, Left Lane Cruiser put out several self-produced EPs. Their work includes Bring Yo' Ass To The Table, described as a summary of the band’s first four years together. The duo tours extensively and has shared stages with Robert Belfour, Black Diamond Heavies, Hillstomp and Chris Cotton. They also appear at the Deep Blues festival in River Falls, Wisconsin in 2007.
