Lee Johnson
Lee Johnson is a German ambient producer and composer whose work spans contemporary classical and soundtrack-related music. He conducts and records with orchestras including the Russian National Orchestra, the London Symphony Orchestra, the Taliesin Orchestra, the London Session Orchestra, the American Rock Orchestra and the Cyberlin Philharmonia.
Compositions and repertoire
Johnson’s output includes six symphonies, numerous chamber works, four musicals, two operas, concerti, choral and vocal works, ballet and theatre pieces, as well as feature-film, experimental-film, multimedia and interactive works. His music appears on labels including Warner Music Group, Compendia Music Group, Decca Records, Deutsche Grammophon, Universal Classics, Intersound, International Platinum Entertainment, Pamplin Music, CCn’C Records and Koch Records.
Conducting and collaborations
He also guest conducts ensembles such as the Russian Spiritual Renaissance Concert Choir, the London Metro Voices, the Midland-Odessa Symphony Orchestra, the Mankato Symphony Orchestra, Goliard Ensemble, LaGrange Symphony Orchestra, Contemporary Vocal Ensemble of Indiana University, Lafayette Chorale, Choral Guild of Atlanta, LaGrange Opera Theater, the Minnesota State University Orchestra, the Minnesota Valley Chorale, Sixth District High School Honor Chorus, Mölndal Conservatory Orchestra and Chorus, and the University of Georgia Wind Symphony.
Education and public activity
Johnson gives guest lectures, special performances and panel appearances at institutions and events including the Moscow Conservatory of Music, Gnesin Academy of Music, the Southeastern Institute for Education in the Arts at the University of Tennessee, the Alabama Institute for Education in the Arts, the Alabama Dance Summit, Eastern Oregon University, the Seaside Institute in Florida, the Southeastern Horn Symposium at the University of Georgia, the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Educational Program, the International Horn Society 2001 Connections Conference in Montgomery, the Leadership Troup Conference at LaGrange College, Grammies in the Schools at Georgia State University, the Northern Ireland Center for Musical Excellence, the Northern Ireland Southern Education and Library Board, and The ArtReach Foundation in Sarajevo.
Awards and positions
He receives an Emmy Award, is named Georgia Artist of the Year, charts on Billboard, and wins ASCAP and ADDY Awards. Johnson is also the full-time Callaway Professor of Music Chair at LaGrange College in Georgia.
