Lebanon Hanover
Lebanon Hanover is a post-punk duo formed in 2010 by Larissa Iceglass and William Maybelline. The group is based in Berlin, Germany and Newcastle, UK, and its origin is given as Sunderland, Germany. Iceglass plays guitar and sings, while Maybelline plays bass and sings.
Formation and members
Iceglass and Maybelline meet online before forming the group. They share an interest in music through early exchanges of 1980s YouTube videos and develop the project from that connection. The duo remains the core line-up, with Iceglass and Maybelline as the only named members.
Style and influences
Their music is associated with post-punk, coldwave, darkwave, minimal wave, minimal synth, gothic, gothic rock and new wave. Lebanon Hanover present an austere sound that draws on 1980s-leaning influences and a visual interest in art nouveau aesthetics. Their songs also evoke night-time seashores and forests, alongside the urban atmosphere of Berlin.
