Leaves' Eyes
Leaves' Eyes are a symphonic metal band formed in 2003 in Ludwigsburg, Germany. The group has connections to both Germany and Norway, and its line-up is built around members from the wider extreme and symphonic metal scene.
Formation and line-up
The band is formed by Liv Kristine, formerly the lead singer of Theatre of Tragedy, together with the full line-up of Atrocity. Among the members associated with the band are Alexander Krull, Thorsten Bauer, Martin Schmidt, Chris Lukhaup, Mathias Röderer, Moritz Neuner, Nicholas Barker, Sander Van Der Meer, JB van der Wal, Felix Born, Elina Siirala, Micki Richter and Seven Antonopoulos. Alexander Krull handles keyboards and unclean vocals, while Elina Siirala provides lead vocals from 2016.
Style and themes
The band’s music is described as gothic metal, metal and symphonic metal, with melodic vocals paired at times with death growls from Krull. Kristine describes this contrast as “beauty and the beast”. Their lyrics, written largely by Liv Kristine until her departure in 2016, focus on Norse mythology and the Viking Age.

Leaves' Eyes have released nine studio albums, one single, six EPs, one live album and a DVD. Their studio albums are Lovelorn, Vinland Saga, Njord, Meredead, Symphonies of the Night, King of Kings, Sign of the Dragonhead, The Last Viking and Myths of Fate.
