LaVern is a US rhythm and blues singer from Chicago, born in 1929 and died in 1997. The name is also used for Laurens Elshof, a Dutch producer and DJ who previously releases music and tours under the name Lyfes and then starts working as Lavern from 2021. In that later project, he develops a hybrid style drawing on EDM and chill house, with tracks such as “Move Me” and “Sunshine”. He works closely with the French record label Get The Sound, and his early releases find an audience quickly. He lives in a small village near Amsterdam, surrounded by woods, and uses nature as a main source of inspiration for music that combines dancefloor energy with more relaxed, sunlit moods.
