Lauren Harris

Lauren Harris is a hard rock and rock singer from Essex, United Kingdom. She is the daughter of Steve Harris, the founding member and leader of Iron Maiden, and grows up around music and the wider music industry.

Training and stage work

Harris graduates from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art and the Oxford School of Drama. She appears in a number of stage productions, including a London staging of Streetcar Named Desire, where she plays Blanche DuBois. She also appears in the feature film Adrift in Soho.

Early recording and solo work

Harris begins singing in pubs in the London area before being noticed by songwriter and producer Russ Ballard, who asks her to record in the studio as the female voice on new material he is writing. That session is her first studio recording and leads her to pursue singing more seriously. In 2005 she works with Monstro Visionary Entertainment and records her debut CD with writer and producer Tom McWilliams.

Touring and live performance

Harris forms a live band and performs in Florida before returning to the UK for dates in the greater London area. Her live profile grows through extensive Internet attention and through touring and festival appearances. In 2006 she plays major European festival dates including Rock am Ring, Rock im Park, the UK Download Festival and the Dublin Download Festival. She also supports Iron Maiden on their world tour, taking in Japan and Europe. In 2007 she tours with Iron Maiden again in places including Dubai and Bangalore, where she becomes the first woman to front a rock band in concert. She later tours with Within Temptation and The Answer, and continues to appear at large outdoor festivals across Europe, including Download Festival in the UK.

Later projects

From 2010, Harris tours with her hard rock band Six Hour Sundown, playing venues in the UK and festivals including Graspop, Download and Sonisphere. She also starts a new project, Kingdom of I, working with songwriter Dave Stewart and drummer Shauney Recke. She is frequently described as performing barefoot.
