Laura Welsh is a singer-songwriter from Staffordshire, UK, based in London. She first appears in recorded music in 2010 under the name Laura and the Tears, then performs as Hey Laura before releasing music under her own name.

Releases and recording work

Welsh releases the sparse track Unravel with production assistance from Dev Hynes, formerly of Test Icicles and also known as Lightspeed Champion. She also works with Robin Hannibal of Rhye on Cold Front, which is released through Polydor and Outsiders.

Her debut album, Soft Control, is released through Outsiders and Polydor Records. The album includes the singles Break The Fall, Undiscovered and Ghosts, and it also features a duet with John Legend, Hardest Part.

Songwriting and collaborators

Welsh collaborates on the album with Jonathan Lipsey, Greg Kurstin, Emile Haynie, Babydaddy and Amanda Ghost, who help her write and produce the record. Her work sits within indie, indie pop, alternative and singer-songwriter styles.
