Laura Love is an American folk musician from Lincoln, United States, born in 1960. She is biracial and grows up in difficult circumstances, including time in foster homes and being raised by a mother with schizophrenia.

Her father is the jazz musician Preston Love, though he has little involvement in her life. Her work is described as “Afro-Celtic” and it also shows bluegrass influence.

Recording career

Love releases three albums on her own label, Octoroon Biography, before Putumayo issues a collection of her songs. One of her albums, Welcome to Pagan Place, includes the song “I Want You Gone”, which is about George W. Bush.

Writing and related work

In 2004, she publishes an autobiography, You Ain’t Got No Easter Clothes, together with an album of the same name.
