Laura Jeanne
Laura Jeanne is a singer, songwriter and fashion designer from Alicante, France. Her music sits in pop and synth-pop, and her work centres on self-written songs and a strong vocal style.
Early life and training
As a child, on a trip to Loch Lomond, she develops an interest in poetry and music. That experience leads her to teach herself guitar and piano. She later studies fashion at Hertfordshire University, which becomes part of her stage presentation because she designs and makes the outfits she wears in performances and music videos.
Music career
She creates her debut single, “Coincidence”, and writes and records her own material. Her songs are also written and recorded over several years, and she works with Universal Music on recordings and writes songs for EMI. She also writes music for television.
Her live performances take place at venues in London including The Hard Rock Cafe, The Bedford, The Regal Room, The Troubadour, Cafe De Paris and Chinawhite. Her name is also associated with performances at London’s more established nightspots and with a developing presence online.
Screen work and other activity
Alongside music, she appears in film and television productions including Harry Potter, Sherlock Holmes and Downton Abbey. She also works as Anna Friel’s body double.
Critical attention
Her performances and songwriting receive praise from figures including Chesney Hawkes, Ian Greaves of Napster UK, Raef Bjayou from The Apprentice, Natasha Andrews of Chicane, Dee Johnson of Simply Red and stylist Ashley Rossiter. The comments focus on her voice, songwriting and stage presence, and describe her as an emerging pop act with a distinctive sound.
