Laughing Buddha
Laughing Buddha is a UK psytrance group made up of Jeremy Van Kampen and William Bryan Halsey. The project grows out of the Goa trance scene of the early 1990s, which prompts Van Kampen, a former guitarist, to begin producing trance music.
Early work and Cosmosis
The pair first work together under the name Cosmosis, releasing the Cannabanoid EP on Transient Records in 1995. That partnership also produces the album Cosmology and a number of well-known tracks, including Morphic Resonance and Gift of the Gods.
Laughing Buddha releases
As Laughing Buddha, they release the singles Infinite Depths and Karma on T.I.P. Records. After the two go their separate ways in 1998, Van Kampen continues the Laughing Buddha name and releases further tracks, including If You Think You're Psykik on Transient.
Collaborations and labels
Van Kampen also records with Chris Decker of Medicine Drum and Purple, including the track Remote, which appears on the Flying Rhino Maelstrom compilation. Over the course of his career he releases music on Dragonfly, LSD under the name Drum Druids, Nano Records, Solstice and T.I.P. World, and later joins Nano Records.
Live work and touring
Laughing Buddha is also an experienced live act and DJ. Van Kampen tours extensively across Australia, New Zealand, Israel, the United States, South America and Europe.
