Lapalux
Lapalux is the solo project of Stuart Howard from Essex, associated with electronic music, with influences from IDM, hip hop, R&B and soul. His tracks are built from layered beat collages, vocal samples and experimental beatmaking, with prominent bass and a strong focus on texture and atmosphere. The music often moves through shifting moods, with moments of tension, calm reflection and emotional release.
Style and sound
Howard’s work combines atmospheric detail with rhythmic irregularity. The tracks use lopsided swing, deep texture and a collage-like structure, giving them the feel of short, self-contained pieces rather than straightforward club tracks. His approach brings together experimental production, beat-driven electronics and influences from soul and hip hop.
Debut album
Nostalchic is Lapalux’s debut album and a key statement of his style. It brings together the atmospheric qualities of his earlier work with elements of house, hip hop, R&B and soul. The record is noted for its focused approach and for evoking nostalgia without directly sounding nostalgic.
