Lanterns On The Lake are an indie rock, dream pop and post-rock group from Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom. The band forms in 2007 and includes Hazel Wilde and Sarah Kemp.
Releases
The group releases two EPs: The Starlight EP and Misfortunes & Minor Victories. For these recordings, the band uses a borrowed eight-track recorder and captures the music in home settings, including an isolated house in Northumberland. The EPs also come with handmade sleeves, reflecting a self-sufficient approach.
Their debut album, Gracious Tide, Take Me Home, appears through Bella Union. Paul Gregory produces the album, as well as the first two EPs. The band records it outside a conventional studio environment, with louder sections tracked in a basement in Newcastle.
Style
Their music combines dreamy, melancholic indie rock with layered textures and celestial melodies around intricate instrumentation.
