Lakker

Lakker is a techno duo from Dublin made up of Arad and Ian McDonnell. Active since the early 2000s, the group builds bass-heavy, stripped-back techno with detailed, layered textures that move between bleak, atmospheric soundscapes and weightier warehouse-oriented rhythms.

Their sound draws on chopped and processed 1990s electronic production, and they are known for giving techno a more human, textured feel. Lakker receive play from artists including Aphex Twin, Laurent Garnier and Surgeon.

The duo appear on Rob Booth’s Electronic Explorations mix series and play Glade festival. They also release work on Blueprint, a British techno label, and their release on that label receives strong reviews from Normann Records, Resident Advisor and Tillate magazine.

Lakker also develop an audiovisual live show, with visual material designed to shift in step with changes in the music.
