Lagrimas
Lagrimas is a DIY melodic crust and screamo group from Watts in Los Angeles County, California. Active since 2019, the band sits within crust punk, emo, neocrust and screamo, and is described as a Los Angeles screamo/neocrust act.
Style and themes
Their sound combines melodic crust punk, screamo and post-rock, with a dark, lo-fi and ambient edge. The group also has a strong live reputation, with tightly arranged performances and energetic stage presence. Their lyrics focus on non-conformity, anti-authority and anti-capitalist themes.
Releases
Lagrimas releases five EPs, one LP titled Life Of Destruction, one single called ECSD, and an LP split with Habak.
Members
Juice plays drums and vocals and has been active in the band since 2019. Art plays guitar and has also been with the group since 2019. Carlos joins on guitar from 2022 onward. Levi plays bass and vocals from 2019 to 2024, and Wil takes over bass and vocals from 2024 onward.
Influences and related projects
Named influences include Das Plague, Ekkaia, Fall of Efrafa and Hongo, along with post-rock acts This Will Destroy You and Explosions in the Sky. Juice also performs in Cry The Monarch, Phota and Stinker, and is part of a project with Wil called D O N Q U I X O T E.
Vocal approach
The band’s early records use black metal-style vocals, while later tracks move more towards clean and harsh vocal delivery.
