Lady Waks is the stage name of Alexandra Waks, a Russian DJ, producer and promoter from Sankt-Peterburg. She is associated with breaks, breakbeat, minimal, electronic and electronica, and works as a DJ, producer, label owner, designer and graffiti artist.

Career

Waks begins in radio in 1999, presenting a hip hop show on one of St. Petersburg’s largest radio stations. In 2000, she moves away from that work to concentrate on promoting music and developing the In Beat We Trust brand, which becomes the basis for her label and wider activities. She is based in St. Petersburg and is described as having been active in pushing her approach to music for a decade.

Projects and affiliations

Her work is linked to In Beat We Trust, and she is also associated with HardWaks and IBWT Crew. She runs club nights and festivals under the In Beat We Trust name.

Awards and recognition

Waks receives recognition at Breakspoll in 2009, where she is named best breakthrough producer and nominated for best breakthrough DJ. She also receives the award for best international act at SBA 09.
