Ladi6 is a New Zealand hip hop and neo soul artist from Christchurch. She starts her musical career in Christchurch and is associated with the vocal and MC tradition in New Zealand music.

Early career

Ladi6 is part of the all-female hip hop group Sheelahroc. The group records the track “If I Gave You The Mic”, and Ladi6 is nominated for Best Vocalist/MC at the 2003 bNet music awards.

Verse Two and live reputation

She later moves to Auckland with her band Verse Two, a group that gains a reputation as a live soul and hip hop act in New Zealand. Verse Two wins the bNet best new act award in 2004, tours New Zealand with packed shows, and supports international acts including The Roots and De La Soul.

Collaborations and guest vocals

Ladi6 also features on tracks by several New Zealand artists, including Shapeshifter, Scribe, Fat Freddys Drop and 50 Hz. These collaborations place her across a range of Aotearoa hip hop and soul projects.

Solo work

She records her debut solo album with Mu from Fat Freddy’s Drop and Parks.
