La Mode
La Mode is a Madrid synth-pop group active from 1981 to 1986. The line-up includes Fernando Marquez “El Zurdo”, Mario Gil, Antonio Zancajo and Daniel Ballester. The group forms in the early 1980s, with El Zurdo on vocals and guitar, Zancajo on guitar and Gil on keyboards; a little later, Álvaro Cárdenas joins on bass.
Their sound draws on the pop of the period, with Roxy Music among the clearest influences. They become one of the more forward-looking Spanish groups of the 1980s and are associated with the movida scene. Among their best-known songs are “Aquella chica”, “El eterno femenino”, “Enfermera de noche” and “Aquella canción de Roxy”, which helps establish their reputation in Spanish pop.
