La Dispute
La Dispute is a post-hardcore group from Grand Rapids, United States, active since 2004. The band’s line-up includes vocalist Jordan Dreyer, drummer Brad Vander Lugt, guitarists Chad Morgan-Sterenberg and Corey Stroffolino, and bass guitarist Adam Vass.
Style and approach
The group’s sound combines post-hardcore and screamo with an experimental approach. It is also associated with emo, hardcore punk, indie rock, melodic hardcore and midwest emo. La Dispute presents its music as a way of building personal connections and encouraging discussion around subjects that matter, and places strong emphasis on the value of live performance and the shared experience of audiences coming together.
Releases
Its first LP, Somewhere at the Bottom of the River Between Vega and Altair, appears in 2008 and is recorded at Studiotte in Grand Rapids by Joel and Troy Otte. The band’s second LP, Wildlife, appears in 2011 and is also issued as an accompaniment to issue 224 of the German magazine Visions.
