Kyte

Kyte are a British group from Leicestershire. Their sound is described by the band as ambient, electro and pop, and their work is also associated with electronic, indie rock and post-rock. Earlier releases are often labelled shoegaze or neo-shoegaze, while later material moves towards a more electro and pop-influenced style.

Line-up and recording approach

The group comprises Nick Moon on vocals, Tom Lowe on guitars and keyboards, and Scott Hislop on drums and percussion. They record all of their songs in a small bedroom.

Their debut single, Planet, appears in 2007 on Sonic Cathedral Recordings. Its B-side, Boundaries, is used in a trailer for the television series The Sopranos in the United States. Their debut album appears in 2008 on Kids Records in the UK and Erased Tapes Records in Europe and receives generally positive reviews.

In 2009, they release Science For The Living in Japan as a two-disc set. That release includes tracks from the Two Sparks, Two Stars EP, along with new material, and its bonus disc includes a remix by The Joy Formidable of the opening track, Eyes Lose Their Fire. Their album Love to Be Lost appears in 2013.

Kyte tour extensively across Europe and Asia and appear at festivals including the 10th Anniversary Summer Sonic Festival in Japan. In April 2012, they travel to Seattle to work with producer John Goodmanson at Robert Lang Studios. Goodmanson is known for work with Nada Surf, Blonde Redhead and Los Campesinos.
